A garage floor coating from Slab Lab Coatings is a full-flake system for home and business garages. We diamond grind the slab, check it for moisture and repair the cracks and pits. Next comes a high-solids base coat, a full broadcast of color flake and a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. Most garages are coated in one day.
Garage floor paint and DIY epoxy kits go on thin. One DIY kit's data sheet calls for one coat about 3 mils thick, over an acid-etched slab. Hot tires can soften a weak film and pull it up as they cool, a failure called hot-tire pickup. Our polyaspartic and polyurea systems go down in layers over diamond-ground concrete.
Minnesota winters are hard on garage slabs. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency estimates 365,000 tons of road salt go down in the Twin Cities metro each year. Cars carry that salt into the garage, and salt plus freeze-thaw makes bare concrete flake and pit near the door. We repair that damage before we coat, and you pick the look from two dozen flake color blends.

From the first call to the final topcoat, here is how it goes.
1 Call or text (612) 702-9724, or send the form. We look at the slab and put the system, repairs, mil thickness and price in writing.
2 We diamond grind the slab with dust extraction to open the surface for a strong bond. Then we test the concrete for moisture.
3 We fill cracks and chips, including salt pits near the door. The coating goes down over sound, smooth concrete.
4 A high-solids, self-priming epoxy or polyaspartic base coat goes down over the ground slab. This is the layer that bonds to the concrete.
5 We broadcast polymer flake across the wet base coat until it is fully covered. Then we scrape off the excess for a consistent texture and grip.
6 A scratch-resistant, UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat seals the floor and hardens in 6 to 8 hours. The crew leaves care instructions and tells you when to park.
