Rubber Stone rubber surfacing puts a new layer of rubber paving over the concrete you already have. It is made of recycled tire rubber and a synthetic rubber called EPDM, held together by a polyurethane binder. The mix is troweled over driveways, pool decks, patios, walkways, steps and garage floors. The manufacturer says it covers cracked, pitted and scaled surfaces.
Slab Lab Coatings is an authorized Rubber Stone dealer based in Otsego, working across the Twin Cities metro. Rubber Stone sits beside our patio and pool deck coatings as the softer, cushioned choice for outdoor concrete. Call or text (612) 702-9724 for a free on-site estimate.

Driveways are the biggest use for Rubber Stone. The manufacturer says they make up over 75 percent of its applications. With concrete driveway resurfacing, the cracked, pitted slab stays in place and gets a new rubber surface on top.
Slab Lab Coatings was founded by a former coating inspector, so every Rubber Stone job starts with inspector-level surface prep. The surface is cleaned, and major gaps and low spots are filled. Then the rubber granules are mixed with the binder and troweled into place.
Fresh Rubber Stone has a shine that fades to a satin finish after a couple of months. The manufacturer says the material takes experience and good timing during application and curing.
If the pool deck is slippery and cracked, Rubber Stone gives bare feet a softer, skid-resistant surface. The manufacturer says it absorbs impact with a cushioning effect. It also describes the surface as porous, with good drainage. Any wet surface around a pool still calls for care.
Patios, walkways and front steps get the same skid-resistant surface. The manufacturer says it can go on flat and vertical surfaces, which helps on steps. Property managers can use it on walkways and entry steps at businesses and apartment buildings too. Color blends let a walkway match the driveway.
In a garage or workshop, Rubber Stone gives a cushioned floor that is easier on your feet. For a hard, scratch-resistant garage floor, a full-flake garage floor coating is the other route.
The manufacturer says yes. It calls Rubber Stone flexible enough to endure the harsh freeze-thaw cycles of northern Canada. Its product sheet also lists ice and snow as a strength. That matters in the Twin Cities, where the temperature swings across freezing on about 75 days in a normal year.
The manufacturer's care guide says to clear snow promptly with a plastic shovel rather than a metal one. It also says to avoid ice-melting chemicals, which could affect the polyurethane binder. If you count on ice melt for your front steps, bring that up at your free estimate.
Rubber Stone has limits. The manufacturer notes that heavy equipment or construction traffic can wear it down. To keep the look of concrete, concrete staining and sealing may be the better fit. To rebuild the concrete surface itself, look at concrete repair and resurfacing.

(612) 702-9724From the first call to the final topcoat, here is how it goes.
Call or text (612) 702-9724, or send the form. We look at the slab and put the system, repairs, mil thickness and price in writing.
We diamond grind the slab with dust extraction to open the surface for a strong bond. Then we test the concrete for moisture.
We fill cracks and chips, including salt pits near the door. The coating goes down over sound, smooth concrete.
A high-solids, self-priming epoxy or polyaspartic base coat goes down over the ground slab. This is the layer that bonds to the concrete.
We broadcast polymer flake across the wet base coat until it is fully covered. Then we scrape off the excess for a consistent texture and grip.
A scratch-resistant, UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat seals the floor and hardens in 6 to 8 hours. The crew leaves care instructions and tells you when to park.

Every slab we coat is diamond ground and tested for moisture first. Cracks and pits are repaired before any coating goes down.
About 75 days a year the temperature swings across freezing in the Twin Cities. Our polyaspartic and polyurea systems are chosen for that and for road salt.
Most garages are coated in one day. One Google review describes a three-stall garage done between 8 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Pick your look from two dozen flake blends.

Josh was amazing to work with. He personally called after I did the Facebook quote and scheduled an estimate for the next day. He got me on the schedule within 2 weeks. The crew arrived at 8am sharp, and were gone by 2pm doing my 3 stall garage. It’s been 2 months and it’s still the favorite update we’ve done to our house since buying. I can’t recommend Josh and Slab Labs enough for getting your garage floor upgraded.
We were so happy with the new garage floor coating Slab Lab did in our garage. Josh was very informative and helpful every step of the way. The workers, Rey and Alex, arrived on time, were very hard working, courteous, and very skilled in all aspects of the job. They were all so pleasant and easy to work with. The floor is beautiful—no more ugly salt damaged concrete! Thanks, Slab Lab!
Highly recommend. I’ve had the floor in my garage for about a year, and it still looks brand new. If I move, I’ll be calling them again for the next garage.
